On this day in 1989 the Calgary Flames continued on their journey to their first Stanley Cup by defeating the Wayne Gretzky and the Los Angeles Kings 5-3, sweeping the divisional final in 4-0. The Flames opponent in the conference finals are their opponents in the first round this year, the Chicago Blackhawks.
